The Journey: What is the role of the educational psychologist?

My practice is geared towards catering for clients of all ages. I however specialise in working with teenagers and young adults with a goal to facilitate more solution focussed and goal orientated decisions within their lives.

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy consists of sessions of approximately 50-60 minutes each. Individual therapy is tailored to the needs of the client. Individual therapy is an exploration of the self with best hopes of the client always a focus of intervention.

Family Therapy

The nature of intervention necessitates the inclusion of all relevant people in a client’s world. Family therapy is a positive step for many clients, and their families, learning to communicate in effective and calm ways can support families in developing healthy and supportive dynamics. Family therapy consists of sessions of approximately 50 to 60 minutes each.

Psycho-educational assessments

A psycho-educational assessment aims to identify a student’s strengths and challenges and develop a comprehensive understanding of a student’s profile. This enables appropriate intervention to be developed, when required, and for student’s optimal potential to be met on a more regular basis. A psycho-educational assessment consists of approximately 6 hours of assessment, as well as an intake interview, feedback and school feedback.

Workshops / Corporate training

As a teacher I thoroughly enjoy engaging in workshops and corporate training programs aimed to impart knowledge, create experiential processes specific to an environment and improve productivity within the work place. Quote is available on request.
